One of the most significant changes in Canadian society in recent decades has been the dramatic rise in the number of women entering the workforce. Women's choosing to work part-time increases or maintains occupational segregation and low pay (Kendall, 357). The weight of the "second shift" and society's expectations will preserve women's inequality and discrimination in the workforce for another generation. For now, Canada's gender-segregated workforce, the wage differential and the way women are treated in the workforce will continue.
