Acceptance of Society Why is it that some forms of freakishness or disabilities are accepted by society more than others, making them more marketable? It is very apparent that a disability is much more than a physical or mental impairment, but also the impairments that occur within society because of these conditions. We cannot overlook the fact that people with disabilities do not want to be stigmatized and defined by their disability, but recognized as individuals who have desires and aspirations to partake in all of the opportunities that society has to offer.
