There is major concern in the western world regarding the possible impending crisis between
the United States of America and Iraq. The American position, presented by President George
W. Bush and his cabinet, has been at the forefront of the world media. Different countries have
taken a stand which is either for or against any kind of military action to be taken by the United
States against Iraq.

Being a major trade partner, traditional ally, and sharing a boundary with the United States, it
would not be in Canada's best interest to create tension between themselves and the Americans.
Canada should agree to disagree with the Americans regarding Iraq, but should not impose any
sanctions against the US. Although this may not be the ideal solution, it is necessary for the well
being of Canada's economy.
