As I approached the end of the novel, My Name is Asher Lev, I began to think about the relevance of the story which I had just read. I felt very connected to the book and could not discern why it was affecting me in such an intense fashion. I still had to step out of my daily routine to be able to interpret the music I play while still incorporating my deepest emotions. By not going with the flow, I can show how I feel because I am not conforming to societal boundaries and ideas. I can understand the frustration Asher must have felt trying to express emotions that he neither truly understood nor was wholly comfortable displaying to the public.
