Travelers learned to give themselves more time to get from point A to point B because highway speed limits were lowered to 55 mph in hopes of conserving gas. In conclusion, we see that in the 1970's we paid for our gas in time, while now in the 21st Century we are paying more then we ever have to get to our destinations.
