The final region is the Coastal Zone. It stretches from the Atlantic Ocean inland for about 10 miles. It has great beaches such as Myrtle Beach and North Myrtle. The barrier islands, which are just off the coast, protect the beaches from eroding. It gets the most tourists and is widely known because of Myrtle Beach.
