This evil lurks about and is hidden deep inside almost every character in the novel especially in Jack. It was most compellingly represented through the eerie beast and the constant search to kill the pig.

Evil is something that each of us posses in our lifetime, but don?t always show that in us. It takes certain things and places to make that side of us come out. It just so happens that in this novel the boy?s evil was taken to far.
