The outrage felt and expressed by the public at the media portrayal of their treatment of women was distinct and tangible. Images of women covered from head to toe immediately arise due to a very effective propaganda campaign. Does oppression of women not apply to the French, because it is conducted under the umbrella of Secularism and Liberalism? There is a danger of falling into the trap of double standards, which our leaders so willingly ascribe to. Oppression in France is no different to oppression in Afghanistan.
