is one of the greatest feats of engineering ever accomplished. The US was in charge of the canal till the end of the year 1999. Now Panama is back in control of the canal for better or worse. Many thousands lives were lost building the canal and many millions of dollars were spent. All of which do not compare to the feat of building this canal which changed the travel of the seas forever.
