Law was a highly respected profession in the eyes of Pompeii's citizens. Lawyers also did not receive pay for defending their clients. It was considered to be part of their public responsibility.
Pompeii is our link to the past, and although the destroyed city now lies in ruins, sealed with ashes, cinders, and lava it has just as much importance to us today, as it did to the ancient Romans.
