During the 1920s, the stock market helped increase investment in stocks. Many investors profited quickly, but since the market was no regulated corrupt brokers manipulated many. One of the big reasons people were drawn to the stock market was because you could buy shares "on margin," a form of credited purchases. (Ladenburg and Brockunier 25-30)
