A profession is commonly known as an occupation, such as law, medicine, or engineering, that requires considerable training and specialized study. If sport is being played solely because of the paychecks and not because of a passion and enjoyment for a game, it will be seen as a job, an occupation, a profession. The world of sports is far from simply playing a game and making the money. I believe the key for one to determine whether sport is indeed a profession would be passion.
