The Big Bang Theory is currently the most widely accepted theory that pertains to the origin of the universe. This is exactly what the Big Bang Theory describes.
In the end, however convincing a theory is, it is indeed just that, a theory. Though, I believe this particular theory so far is best idea we have of how the universe was formed, the Big Bang Theory is still under thorough investigational testing, and in practice this will never end. Such is the nature of science, constantly looking for the flaws in any good idea.
