The Vietnam War The Vietnam War was the longest war in United States history. It lasted from 1957 to 1975. The U.S. got involved in this war to stop communism from spreading; first in individual countries and then hopefully in the world. Vietnam was divided along the 17th parallel. …showed last 75 words of 1655 total…young men to go and die for an unjust cause. Medics in the war made their best efforts to help and treat the wounded. They are blessed by the people whos' lives they saved and they are mournful of those whose lives were lost. One similarity the medics and wounded have is their new perspective of life. A war fought is a lesson learned, and this is one lesson our country could have done without.
