How effective is the Introduction of the Odyssey?
Homer's Odyssey is considered by some to be a near faultless piece of epic poetry. With this in mind it would be plausible that the introduction of this epic is also perfect. The purpose of this essay is to determine weather this statement is true or false.

godly respect. Odysseus is induced very well into the epic as he is seen, as he should be, a model ancient Greek hero:
'He is not only the wisest man alive but has been most generous in his offerings to the immortals'
We also hear of Odysseus' greatness from the pineings of his son Telemachus who wishes his legendary father, who he has never seen only heard about (which makes his fathers greatness more poignant)
