I. Introduction
Today I am looking at how Diane, a fifth-grade teacher at Oneida Elementary, handles the different ethnic groups and socioeconomic statuses in her classroom. Oneida Elementary is located in the lower middle class section of the city. The school is over crowded, and there is very short time to spend with each child. Diane's classroom is built for twenty-five students but the school system packs thirty-one students into her tiny classroom.

students a teacher would like to have in his/her classroom. These students are from backgrounds like: Bosnia, Irish, Hispanic, Asian, Jewish, Black, and White students. With sixteen of her thirty-one students Diane has no room for error in calling on students from different backgrounds. Ethnic diversity can cause much trouble around the world especially in the school systems. Teachers need to pay attention to who they call on and how they correct each student.
